Google Company has recently launched its newest social networking web site, Google+ as a rivalry against Facebook. In order to be able to join this limited network, you must receive an invitation sent by Google’s itself or other people taking place in Google+ network.
At the first day of launching Google+, such a lot of people visited the web site that servers by Google could not meet the necessities of visitors to the web site and gave them the feedback of visiting the web site later or jotting down their e-mail addresses to be informed of latest updates.
It may sound quite similar to your ears as this new social networking platform has some similarities with other ones such as Facebook, Twitter and so on. The main idea of creating Google+ looks like the other ones created years ago. However, Google+ let you have more transparency with the people you share and other interactions. When you’re logged into your Google account, mostly gmail, a new Google+ menu appears on the left and upper side while integrating all other Google services and platforms.
Now that Google+ launched there will be many easy ways to keep in touch with people around you. That is, changing according to your likes, your Google account integrated with Google+ will appear on the results of Google search engine. It is mostly up to you to allow people to see your Google profile. Other services and components provided by newly-launched Google+ follow: Sparks, +1 button, Circles, Huddle, Hangouts…
Unlike the other social networking web sites, Google+ provides its users with a new way of organizing their friends, Circles. Instead of allowing your shares to be seen by all of your friends, you can now organize your options making your shares available for some limited people such as family, friends, or work environments. However, you can do this on Facebook as well but most of us are not even aware of this option. According to your likes and dislikes, you can also make your shares visible for everyone who is not with Google accounts and allow them to comment on them.
We can call Huddle platform as a means of chat available for a group of people. Instead of sending SMS requiring some money to use, you can make use of Huddle in order to keep in touch with your friends in a closed area. If you still do not have an invitation sent by a user of Google+, you may make a visit to Disco platform. It is a secret that Slide, which is owned by the company that makes Disco, is the same platform as Huddle. That is, you can use Disco if you do not have a chance of getting an invitation by Google+.
Hangouts is another kind of keeping in touch with your beloved ones via video messaging. You can do this with the other sorts of instant video messaging platforms such as Skype, Google Talk, or Qik. The difference that Google+ makes is surely the one that allows you to control your availability when you get into “hangout”. You can take the advantages of switching on/off on Facebook. By means of Hangout, you can control even more options of your availability to the others.
Hangouts let you use instant video messaging with a group of people including up to 10 users. You may be saying that this is not unique to Google+, for, you may happen to see these kinds of features in other platforms as well. What makes Hangouts different from the other ones is easiness to use. You can use Hangout by installing a browser plugin for the time being but it is expected to be used as a computer program at the later stages.
Sparks is able to find and suggest some items related to your interests and likes. It can be called as a suggestion engine which is developed enough to give you some clues on your searches. Via Sparks, one can make a search and share the results that interest them very much. That feature allows users to make use of results optimized to your likes.
This feature is usually available for mobile phones allowing you to share the photos that you have taken by your phone’s camera. It is quite easy to share your photos that you can upload them via this feature in a few minutes.
You can use the option of check-in in your mobile phones on Google+. Integrating with Latitude check-ins, you can benefit from this feature quite easily.
Google+ with Pros and Cons, Possibility of Survive
Taking a general look at Google+, one may not become aware of that much change on it. Yet, Google+ has drawn quite huge interest from the public. It was publicly announced that almost 10 million users joined Google+ and started enjoying it within only two weeks after launch. Google+ has become so popular that Facebook Creator Mark Zuckerberg is even amongst the most followed ones. However, they are too late to join the social platforms and that may hinder their chances of surviving. They are also too late to see where the market of social networking was leading and that situation put them quite back at the stage. Google also lost some of its important employees in the field and that led them to drop behind all other networks.
Similar to other sorts of social networking platforms, it is highly possible that Google should suffer from their unexpected troubles. It is usually Google’s job that they make use of their own product while creating something new. Instead of trusting others, they’d rather encourage their workers to fix the problems they are experiencing. That job is generally useful for Gmail and Chrome platforms and done by the most successful engineers in their fields.
They are doing this job quite successfully in other areas but not in social products. For example, Google Buzz unfortunately took its place amongst the least-trusted products. That is, a number of problems related to privacy of users such as receiving some e-mail that do not interest them at all. Second problem was that almost all of Google employees are of different origins and this means they have almost the same technical backgrounds with an identical social circle. Google+ is now testing its usability on the ones who are not from the same background as Google employees and seems to be getting much more reliable results on its newly-launched social networking web site, Google+.
Google Company is also quite successful in testing and improving the conditions of its products. On the other hand, they too impatient to perform this job and eventually leading to some unwanted results. To make it clear, we can take Google Wave as an example. The platform has been tested inside the company and launched. But there was a problem with this. They later realized that the public was not satisfied with the general condition of it. In this side, one can advise Google to make use of more public testing and get healthier result before any launch of any platform.
Time to be Invited to Google+
Google+ is available at plus.google.com and you can download aPlus app for your phones with Android operating system. To make use of the advantages of this platform, Google+, you still need to receive an invitation sent by one of the users of it or Google Company. Depending on the demand to the web site, you can receive an invitation. At the first stages, you were supposed to jot down your name and gmail address to get an invitation but now it is open to everybody. But eventually, the system of Google+ started to perform quite well and about 10 million people joined in just 2 weeks time.
There was a heavy work load on the web site at its first stages and many people had to wait for some time to be invited to Google+. Either Google or already joined users were able to send an invitation. Also, some profiteers tried to benefit from this situation by sending invitations to the ones who transferred some money to them. It is not known whether they have succeeded in doing so or not, it is possible that they grabbed some money from the ones who are a bit simple minded. That may be the fact that today's world is in now.
On the other hand, when Gmail and Orkut were announced officially, users were allowed to send a limited number of invitations to their friends and this meant that only the ones with an invitation were able to give a visit to web sites and log in to them easily. Moreover, Google Wave used almost the same system of inviting and waiting lists. However, Google+ was visited by so many people that Google had to turn down most of the requests sent by prospective users. As stated below too, many users remained without invitations and waited for a long time to join the social networking platform finally. Another point that draws attention must be Facebook Creator’s popularity on Google+. As Google+ was launched as rivalry against Facebook, it is still very interesting that your competitive one's creator is the most popular one on your web site. Let’s see how long Mark Zuckerberg will be able to hold this title…
