Mark Ingram of the University of Alabama won the Heisman in 2009. He was chosen as the 75th winner of the Heisman Memorial Trophy as the Most Outstanding College Football Player in the United States for 2009.
The Heisman Trophy was held on December 12th, on a nationally televised ESPN sports special live from the Nokia Theatre in Times Square. Mark Ingram of the University of Alabama was selected as the 2009 Heisman Winner. He was voted to be the most outstanding player in collegiate football.
It has never been seen in the 75 year history of the Heisman that anyone won the award over somebody by only 28 points. Mark Ingram won the award over Toby Gerhard by only 28 points. Bo Jackson had defeated Chuck Long by only 45 points in 1985. That was the closest race in the history of the Heisman.
